ASTM A537 specification covers heat-treated carbon manganese-silicon steel plates intended for fusion welded pressure vessels and structures.

Material is widely used in boiler and pressure vessel building.

The heat treatment of ASTM A537 CL2 should be quenched and tempered. And its tempering temperature shall not be lower than 1100°F [595°C] for not less than 1⁄2 h.
